Gone are the times for wondering if holographic displays were the outcome of an outer space technology, seeded into fantasy by Star Wars. Whether Tony Stark, or not, individual consumers might be able to lay their hands on similar fascinating devices available in market. A much toned-down version of what motion pictures describe, is brought by manufacturers at a certain price. The screenless display market segment currently offers eyewear that create virtual reality through 3D holographic projections. More advanced options, of flaring up an entire responsive display system at the touch of a button, are yet to come. According to a report by Allied Market Research, analysts expect substantial rise in adoption and eventual growth of 3D hologram segment in recent future.

The world of 3D hologram invites consumers to take a deeper, and wider perspective of all things viewable. An object, Helium Neon laser, a lens, a holographic film, and a mirror are all needed to Recreating visual media in thin air and being able to carry all of it on device and web across physical barriers is beyond ordinary. Yet, that is not all. Scientists recently claimed that they could now target complete atomic setup of any molecule using high-energy electron waves to replicate defined holographic images of the molecular structure.

Screenless display market: Prevailing Technologies and consumer perspective

Screenless display is essentially fulfilled by a projecting device that transmits data or assists visualization, without the help of auxiliary screens that need not be fixed, or even be a real surface at times. Two subsystems- front end (control & transmission) and projection (optical modules & electronics). Three types of screenless display, based on technology - Visual Image, Retina Display and Synaptic Interface, function by directly projecting images onto the human retina, open space and even to the human brain.

Consumers tend to prefer for goods and services that make their lives easier. It all boils down to the comfort factor. In this regard, the idea of screenless viewing is orgasmic for technology geeks. However, the original idea was to render the issues of non-availability of screens at all times, portability of projecting devices in a compact architecture.

3D hologram is an example of visual Image screenless display technique, wherein transmitted light is deflected through a medium before it reaches the eye. Only a couple of years back, screenless display market was born, offering products such as holographic displays and VR headsets. Heads-up Display technology brought the advantage of size scalability in data projection, being used at present in aircrafts, transport vehicles, and (of course) gaming consoles. Manufacturers take enough care to make smartest tech act as a prompt assistant to the viewer. Simplest of instructions are enough to make things work for consumers; all one has to do is navigate around virtual keys and tabs.

Future market prospects for 3D holograms

Microsoft HoloLens, is an exemplary model of how 3D hologram mapping would be a part of natural consumer tendency in the future. The hologram technology undergoes dynamic evolution during current decade, while a diverse range of applications sprout from each novice development. Given the droning competition in the market, plus the high manufacturing costs associated with the end-devices, consumer population has not seen much rising as one would have expected. Although, understanding what the future holds for the bold stakeholders comes easy with the increasing numbers of patents in this field of study. Companies focus on improving technical parameters for enhancing consumer experience. Businesses now realize that they cannot solely reap profits out of infotainment applications, useful navigation is going to expand customer base further.
