Oncology or anti-cancer drugs are used in treatment of various cancer types to improving health conditions and prolonging survival time of patients. Chemotherapy:
Very few chemotherapeutic drugs exist that target and destroy cancer cells. Common routes of administration for cytotoxic drugs is in-vitro and for targeted drugs is oral. Single-drug chemotherapy cures particular types of cancers, such as choriocarcinoma. Multidrug regimens that incorporate drugs with different toxicities and different mechanisms of action are used to kill the tumor cell, decrease dose-related toxicity, and reduce the probability of drug resistance.

Hormonal Therapy:
Hormone agonists or antagonists are used in hormonal therapy to influence the course of cancer. It may be in association with other treatment modalities to increaseefficacy of therapy. Particularly, hormonal therapy is useful in prostate cancer, which grows in reaction to androgens.

Roche Holdings AG, aSwitzerland based manufacturer generated highest revenue in sales. It generated $25,151 million in sales in 2014 registering growth of 2 percent. Novartis generated $10,264 million registering growth of 8 percent. Merck & Co. generated $2057 million in sales registering growth of 39 percent, while Pfizer generated $2022 million in 2014 registering growth of 2 percent.
