New showrooms will include two high-end divisions, Karges Furniture and Councill. The company acquired Karges in 2014 and acquired various assets of Councill in the last year. The companies will be set up in about 2,500 square feet at 200 N. Hamilton St. Kindel will move from temporary space, which it shared with Karges in the Interhall section of the International Home Furnishings Center. Kindel acquired this space in 2010.  Amy Wolbert, Kindel Furniture’s senior vice president of marketing, stated that they are excited about moving to the Hamilton Wrenn district as they are returning back to where they started.

Rob Burch, president and CEO of Kindel Furniture, said, “The new showroom gives Kindel the opportunity to show all three brands together. It also complements company owner Jim Fisher’s vision to keep production for these luxury residential furniture manufacturers in the United States, particularly in the Grand Rapids, Mich., region, which was once the epicenter of U.S. furniture manufacturing in the before the industry shifted much of its production to North Carolina and Virginia in the early 1900s. The ability to make this beautiful, high-quality and hand-crafted furniture in Grand Rapids is part of a multi-year strategy Jim had us embark upon.”

Art Van Furniture Appoints New Vice President:

Art Van Furniture, the leading furniture & mattress retailer of Midwest and an independent furniture retailer, has appointed new vice president. They have promoted Jeanette McNamara to hold the responsibility of the company's luxury divisions. She will also oversee daily operations of Scott Shuptrine Interiors and Hillside Contemporary Furniture, a newly acquired firm by the company. In addition, she will play vital role in growth of each luxury division brand through stand-alone locations, in-store galleries, and an aggressive franchising portfolio plan.
