To boost capability, more devices were added to attain what looked impossible with single – purpose devices. This worked wonders with voice traffic, which significantly and predictably increased. But, in 21st century, one cannot construct physical infrastructure fast. Thus, there is strong need for new ways to set-up and manage data networks, emphasize research analysts at Allied Market Research. Researchers analyzing the size and share add the answer can be found in the sphere of web services, where using software to offer functionality on affordable and replaceable equipment has gained traction.  Performing this at a network level would mean replacing hardware equipment on which the network depends. Our network may have software applications running on servers and different standardized devices. This approach for building a network is termed SDN. So what is the deal?

Companies debut cheaper SDN options

Big giants are seen introducing less – expensive versions of their SDN product. At the same time, they have lowered the functionality, while increasing the price of its full – featured version. According to a recent incident VMware with its new versions (NSX) is planning on improving the sales figures. This is expected to counteract the continuous downfall in its vSphere server virtualization segment. Companies are working on introducing standard versions for customers looking for affordable solution and can survive without automation of certain security policies, distributed firewalling and integration with active directory.

New entrants define the market

New entrants have become active, when it comes to enabling the custom design and control over cloud solutions as their own. Many white-label services are helping partners to further rebrand the software defined networking market and resell the solutions at retail prices. Optus Cloud -N’s white-label services have won several hearts with its flexibility ensured by many levels of service in hourly increments. Cloud-N offers solutions including capacity to ramp solution during peak hours and scale back during off -peak hours. Company is now providing services at Equinix data center located in Melbourne and Sydney. Optus plans on expanding its services to other data centers in 2016.

Hardware remains innovative in SDN market

Companies have been long engaged in simplifying SDN by offering easy programming abilities as well as leveraging the open standards. However, when emphasizing on the software defined networking, companies take care that the hardware that still remains a part of what contributes to the benefits of an enterprise and service providers are addressed. In a recent incident Corsa Technology made is known that its latest DP2000 series can back on-demand solutions. Features such as routing platform and programmable switching fulfils the subscriber – level requirements and network tuning. Vice president of Corsa, Carolyn Rabb explained that the platform was constructed for both metro applications and WAN. This would bring in relief for network architects who are struggling to handle increasing data traffic volume and diversity.

Brands get recognized

Earlier this year many brands have been awarded for delivering private connectivity worldwide and faster performance of applications including cloud and on -premises. This year also saw the entry of the first completely integrated SD-WAN. True! Aryaka’s new solution created a wave by combining SaaS acceleration, private global network as well as WAN Optimization to deliver improved application performance, lowering capital investments and making the network simple at their offices located worldwide. Aryaka was awarded the SD Excellence Award for the next time in a row.  Chief Marketing Officer at Aryaka Gary Sevounts said “We are delighted to receive further recognition from TMC as a leader in the Software-Defined Networking space.” He further explained "Our SDN Platform is seeing incredible traction in the market with enterprises and service providers."

Innovation at its peak

Infrastructure is definitely coming in a new way in 2016. Martin Casado a popular SDN innovator and venture capitalist explained why at Interop keynote. Many are worried that the era of infrastructure is losing its charm, but not for Martin who revealed that the industry is at its initial point of evolutionary transformation in infrastructure sector. He said so when speaking at Interop conference.
While many look excited about spending some time in infrastructure, Allied Market Research’s knows what the future looks like.
