When it comes to food and beverages, sustainability and integrity in all that we seek for and technology has figured it out with cold-chain and monitoring solutions. Along with food and beverages, cold chain solution has benefitted pharmaceuticals as well. Managing the temperature for cold chain products including drugs, cold chain technology also avoids the change in taste and texture of the food. Moreover, the advanced technologies have modified the cold chain and monitoring solutions to provide end-to-end secure shipments to the store managers, granting truthfulness throughout the supply chain. On the other hand, several food traders and pharmaceutical stores have adopted a cold chain for their shipments. According to a report published by Allied Market Research, the cold chain tracking and monitoring market are expected to register a CAGR of 16.0% by 2022. Recently, Kudelski and CoreKinect announced to develop a cold-chain solution jointly for grocers and food retailers. On the other hand, ORBCOMM Inc. has launched its PT 6000 a next-generation cold chain solution.

Kudelski and CoreKinect to develop an end-to-end cold chain solution:

A cold chain-based food tracking solution for grocers and food retailers to track food securely. The Kudelski Group, a leading company for hardware and software digital security, and CoreKinect, a hardware designing and manufacturing company have jointly announced to develop FreshTrack, a cold chain-based tracking solution. Furthermore, CoreKinect’s flexible trackers will be accompanied by Kudelski’s hardware-based device and data security to develop the solution. The state-of-the-art mini tracking and sensing solution can be placed inside the boxes or food packaging to observe the temperature, transport conditions, and humidity during the complete process of the distribution chain. Additionally, the receiving manager while receiving the food packages can use FreshTrack to check whether the item is transported with specifications and can manage to accept or reject the shipment.

ORBCOMM’s PT 6000: Next-generation cold chain monitoring solution:

Earlier this year, an American provider of machine-to-machine and IoT solutions ORBCOMM Inc. has launched a product as the next generation of its cold chain monitoring solution ORBCOMM’s PT 6000. The solution is presented as LTE cellular/3G/dual-mode-satellite-cellular version that provides fuel and temperature management, maintenance, logistics, and monitoring amenability for refrigerated transports.

The solution is further enhanced with ORBCOMM’s telematics solutions, including connectivity and cargo watch application, sensors, compact and ruggedized PT 6000. The ruggedized PT 6000 feature provides proper visibility and control of cold chain operations to ensure the truthfulness of shipping vehicles across the supply chain. Furthermore, the reefer management solution monitors the exact temperature and alarms if explicit conditions are detected regarding temperature or the value differs the order, any indulgence of any asset to the geofence, or fuel loss. The solution is well-suited for all types of refrigerated items. Up to three temperature sensors are supported by the reefer solution that has multiple zones and rechargeable batteries. Moreover, the device is combined with third-party dispatch and in-cab software providers.

The advancements in cold chain solutions for even the flow of food, beverages, and medicines have aided the food, pharma, and logistics industries. Its monitoring feature has built a chain of transparency and purity amongst the suppliers and receivers. The benefits offered by the cold chain has attracted several manufacturers to invest heavily. Moreover, cold chain tracking and monitoring solutions have helped to supply healthy food to distant and remote areas, feed people in natural calamity affected areas, and feed the soldiers.
