In the last few years, there’s been an upsurge in demand for heavy-duty material handling systems and devices in the market. With the latest technological advancements in automated material handling systems, various industries are advancing toward integrated material handling systems. With these advancements in forklifts and warehouse equipment, there is a growing demand for a durable battery to power the forklifts and improve their load-bearing capability in the market. This rising demand thus opens the door for new opportunities in the Forklift battery market. According to Allied Market Research, the forklift battery market is anticipated to grow at a significant CAGR from 2019 to 2026.

Market players are embracing various partnership and product development strategies to provide the best in the market and fill the demand supply gap. The warehouse forklift market which was traditionally inclined to LPG or Diesel powered IC engine trucks have shown a decent acceptance rate for electric powered forklifts in some regions. The demand for electric powered forklifts is expected to increase in the coming years. Increased environmental concerns, rising fuel prices, and a greater awareness of employee welfare are quite a few factors that have contributed to the emergence of the electric lift truck. The U.S. forklift battery market seems to accept fuel cell forklifts as an alternative to the electric forklift and is expected to witness an upward growth as the need of expanding warehouse spaces increases.

The advent of the lithium-ion battery is perhaps the major contributing technological innovation underlying the boom in electric truck sales. Raniero Forklifts joined hands with BSLBATT Battery to power its heavy duty forklift application - Raniero Forklifts, using lithium batteries. The BSLBATT lithium-ion battery works efficiently with high power electric motors and delivers decent performance as compared to ICE. Also it does not require any periodic maintenance.

Eternity Technologies, a leading industrial battery manufacturer recently launched “Quasar” – a carbon nano motive battery. This battery is mainly designed for heavy duty material handling devices and is ideal for operating in cold storage environment and multiple shifts. It can be fully charged in 4 hours thus increasing the flexibility. These batteries support sustainable economy and delivers 99% recycling rate. To maintain the ideal battery conditions, the system is autonomously monitored and managed via the cloud and the modules can be disconnected individually as per the requirement and the system can continue its operations.

With the latest innovations, the major brands are collaborating for better service and expanding their customers. Concentric LLC, based in Dallas, which supplies DC power systems for electric forklifts, AGVs, and ground support equipment for the airlines, has sourced Weldex Sales, Virginia's substantial battery distributor. This alliance will help Concentric to expand into new areas such as lithium and hybrid power systems and strengthens its footprint in Virginia.

Furthermore, JCB collaborates with a global provider Exide Technologies to power its new electrified Teletruks. As part of the agreement, Exide's GNB batteries and high-frequency chargers will be included with every new E-TEC forklift that wheels off the assembly line. Exide will also provide high level support and service throughout Europe.
