Automotive vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology is evolving with deployment of smart infrastructure picking up pace across the world. Market players have adopted a collaboration strategy to achieve milestones regarding improving road safety, reducing fatalities, and make communication through V2X safer than before. Collaboration with security providers, technology providers, and transport authorities, market players aim to improve safety and efficiency. In addition, necessary steps need to be taken to ensure the messages sent and received through V2X devices are secure and unintended users are not interfering with them. So, collaboration becomes a crucial strategy for market players to accelerate deployment and ensure secure communication. The demand for automotive V2X is expected to increase in the coming years. According to the report published by Allied Market Research, the automotive V2X market is expected to generate $11.71 billion by 2027. Following are some of the activities taking place across the world.

Collaboration is one of the major strategies adopted by market players to deploy V2X technology and improve safety of vehicles. Audi of America, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., American Tower Corporation, and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) collaborated to deploy cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) communication technology. The prime objective of this collaboration is to improve vehicle and work zone safety on roads of Virginia. In addition, this collaboration aims to lower down the road accidents and fatalities.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) allocated the 5.9 GHz wireless communications band for C-V2X safety and improved transportation. Companies have been working along the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) and Commsignia for developing and deploying new models for two use cases such as traffic signal and work zone & roadside worker safety. Personnel working at roadsides can receive notifications about approaching vehicles as well as drivers will also be informed about work in progress. For improvement of traffic efficiency and safety, signal status information will be sent to drivers of Audi. This would offer green light countdown to drivers with the help of cellular network and C-V2X messages. By determining potential collision and following traffic rules, efficiency and safety of roads can be improved.

Along with increasing safety of road, market players have been adopting a collaboration strategy to enhance safety of automotive V2X communication. Unex, a V2X system provider, joined hands with Microsec, a V2X security expert. This collaboration is aimed at offering robust and secure V2X communication. In the V2X environment, many messages have been transmitted and it is important to carry out secure communication between them. Microsec offers Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) background and certification to manufacturers, roadside developers, and smart city infrastructure developers.

This certification is one of the essential factors to establish trusted communications for Unex. Its V2X devices would secure every message and restrain unauthorized users from transmitting or modifying the messages. The collaboration is aimed at consolidating the ecosystem of each other. In addition, it speeds up the safe deployment of road traffic management including emergency braking, hazard detection, collision avoidance, and truck platooning. With certifications by Microsec in place, Unex can accelerate the development of V2X devices and offer new solutions for road safety.
