Windows and doors form an essential part of any house or building. Apart from providing security and comfort, they also speak a lot about the aesthetic sense of the person living there. There is a great selection of windows and doors available in the market today, each having their own unique features and advantages. Besides the type, one can also get to choose the material for windows and doors. In the current times, there have been several new developments in this field with new materials being introduced in the market and replacing the older ones. The most commonly used materials for the manufacture of windows and doors are metal, wood, and plastic.

The windows and doors market is seeing robust growth in recent years and it owes this growth to factors such as advancements by industry players producing eco-friendly windows and doors, a rise in consumer spending on home improvement, and an increase in the number of residential & nonresidential construction. In addition, rapid industrialization and urbanization, as well as a rise in disposable income in emerging economies, create potential growth opportunities for the market.

Numerous players in the space have adopted launch and acquisition as their prime strategies for growth and expansion. For instance, in November 2018, Blairs Windows Ltd., a window supplier in Scotland, announced its plans to launch a new PVCu window production line in order to enhance its competitiveness and supplement its timber doors and windows product range. In January 2019, The Marvin Companies, a family-owned business based in the U.S., announced its acquisition of SIW Windows & Doors, a company offering impact-resistant windows, doors and glass garage doors, in order to expand the former’s product portfolio and better serve their customers.

Blairs Windows Expands with Launch of PVCu Products

Blairs Windows announced the launch of PVCu window production line at its Inverclyde facility. The move is intended to enhance the company’s competitiveness and boost the already existing line of timber windows and doors. The investment is also set to lead to the creation of about 20 jobs. The new jobs and product development would allow the company to cater to the increased demand for their ever-increasing product range. Alex Gray, managing director at Blairs Windows said, “This investment demonstrates that we are highly committed to making Blairs Windows the most competitive, sustainable and innovative window and door manufacturer in Scotland. It is a historic brand whose name is renowned for quality and it’s important that we keep evolving to ensure we are providing the very best service to our customers.”

The Marvin Companies Buys SIW Windows & Doors

The Marvin Companies recently purchased the assets of SIW Windows & Doors to establish a new business called SIW Solutions. Florida-based SIW offers a wide range of impact-resistant windows and doors while focusing on quality and modern design. According to The Marvin Companies, SIW is widely known for its quality, design innovation, and exceptional customer service which complement their values and status in the market. He also believes that the integration of SIW to their business will allow them to extend their capabilities in product manufacturing and present more design solutions to their customers.
