Near field communication (NFC) is a wireless technology, which uses radio waves to enable devices to exchange a small amount of data over a very short distance. NFC is similar to Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, however, with a much shorter range, that is, 10 centimeters (4 inches). In addition, it establishes connection almost instantaneously and doesn’t require a cumbersome set process, unlike Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. NFC also needs less power than Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
NFC has evolved from an older wireless protocol called radio-frequency identification (RFID), which functions as an electronic identifier and has many commercial uses, such as payments and data transfer, and others. While RFID chips only transmit a signal in one direction, NFC chips both receive and send data. NFC file sharing doesn’t require paring, which makes it faster. Because there is no paring, no records exist, which makes NFC good for anonymous use.

NFC-enabled speakers are easier to connect with mobile phones and tablets as compared to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
