The fish oil market has witnessed fundamental shifts in terms of changing consumer perception and recent innovations in fish oil. However, various government regulations on limiting the fishing quota may cause a demand supply gap, which may hinder the growth of the industry across regions.
As per a recent report by Allied Market Research, titled, “World Fish Oil Market - Opportunities and Forecasts, 2014 – 2020", the fish oil market would reach $2.63 billion by 2020, registering a CAGR of 6.1% during 2015 - 2020. Asia Pacific is expected to remain the major market in terms of region, led by a fast growing aquaculture industry. Over half of the fish oil is produced globally comes from Latin American countries–Peru and Chile; however, a major percentage of it is consumed in the region such as Asia Pacific and Europe. Regions such as North America and Europe witness larger consumption of fish oil in the form of functional food and supplements.
