Die casting is one of the most economical and fastest forming processes and die casting machines make it quicker and more efficient. These machines are used in the process of forcing molten metal into reusable die when put under high pressure.
The die casting machines are used to manufacture metal units that must have accurate dimensions and defined, textured, and smooth surfaces. The machines include chassis, flywheel & bracket, air valve, automobile appliances, and smart locks.
The demand for die casting machines has boosted over the last few years. The growing market for light-weight vehicles and surge in the adoption of high pressure die casting (HPDC) are the major driver for the growth of the market. According to Allied Market Research, the die casting machines market is expected to reach $4.98 billion by 2026, registering a CAGR of 3.9% from 2019 to 2026.
Major applications of die casting machines
The die casting machines commonly find application in large series production. More frequently, the die-cast component is manufactured for the automotive industry. The component such as wheels, valve blocks, and cylinder heads are manufactured using die-casting.
The use of aluminum die-cast parts reduces the overall weight of the vehicles and in turn, leads to a reduction in fuel consumption. Hence, the die-casting machines are now used in various industries including aerospace, furniture, electronics, power tools, and lighting technology. However, in the coming years, we are likely to witness the industries such as electromobility to incorporate die-casting, which opens new opportunities for the die casting machine market.
Launch of new Digital Cell for die-casting
The rapid technological advancements are expected to open new opportunities in the coming years. For instance, Bühler recently launched Digital Cell for die-casting. According to the company, the so-called digital cell delivers 0% scrap, 40% less cycle time, and 24x7 uptime. The device is said to be more profitable and efficient than conventional alternatives.
Bühler launched three solutions as a part of the future Digital Cell, out of which would be SmartCMS, the future die-casting cell’s smart digital brain. It is expected to improve process performance with the capability to collect and manage information from peripheral and component. The second solution is developed to reduce downtimes by tenfold using predictive maintenance. Furthermore, the third solution is Fusion, which is Bühler’s next-gen three-platen die-casting platform.
Introduction of novel mold spraying machine
Wollin, a leading company that brings optimum solutions in the field of die-casting, recently unveiled ESM (efficient spray machine) series in sizes ESM2, ESM3, and ESM4. The company has proven to be home of several innovations related die-casting machines and once again, it has launched ESM to reduce space required for the die-casting machine.
Most of the mechanical components need to be replaced. Especially, the integration of options such as flow measurement, pressure boosters, and pressure control has to be integrated into the horizontal axis to minimize the space required on the die-casting machines and weight on the vertical axis, which increased the payload by 25%. However, compared to previous spraying machines, the ESM requires less space and console position. Moreover, it improves the service accessibility.
