With the growing consumption of alcohol among millennials worldwide, the global alcoholic beverages market is evolving. Gin is an alcoholic spirit that opens up a wide range of options to serve to the growing demand of alcohols across the world. This broad category of spirit derives its predominant flavor from juniper berries.

Owing to rise in demand for premium cocktails, manufacturers are shifting from using artificial flavors and colors to natural appeal in the drinks. Gin is widely known for bringing a natural taste into the drink, which is why, large alcohol production companies are using huge quantities of gin in premium drinks. According to a report published by Allied Market Research, the gin market size is projected to reach $20.17 billion with a considerable CAGR from 2021 to 2028.

The market is extremely innovative in terms of liquid availability, regions that are producing it and targeted consumers. Multiple brands including Beefeater, Pinkster and others have launched pink gin in order to stay competitive in the market. At the same time, the Old Curiosity released its own range of color changing gins.

Following are the popular types of gin spirit and all of them are unique in their own way.

  • London Dry Gin: This gin is the most popular one. It originates from England but is produced all over the world. It is typically very dry, aromatic, strongly juniper flavored and light in body. It is also jam packed with fresh citrus notes and thereby, adding a lemon twist to it can bring out the citrus elements of a well-known cocktail named the Martini. Common brands of London Dry Gin includes Beefeater, Tanqueray and Bombay Sapphire.
  • Plymouth Gin: This gin must be made in Plymouth, England. It comparatively has drier and more citrus flavor than London Dry Gin. Due to the presence of blended botanicals i.e. juniper, cardamom, dried sweet orange peels, coriander seeds angelica root, and orris root, the gin offers an earthier feel. It possesses an oily texture, which works excellent in the Martinis and the Negroni.
  • Old Tom Gin: It tastes sweeter than the standard gin because a large amount of licorice is used for manufacturing it. Due to its rich flavor, it works better in mixed drinks and premium cocktails.
  • Dutch Gin: It is also known as Genever. It is very different in color and taste than other types of gins. Instead of neutral grain spirit, it is formed from a base of malt grains, thus, possesses a darker color as well as robust flavor which is similar to botanical whiskey.

Global manufacturer are focusing on increasing the varieties even more, which in turn, is likely to create lucrative opportunities for the growth of the gin market. In addition, emergence of modern on-trade channels and increase in disposable income is boosting the consumption of gin based drinks. Here, it is worth saying that the global gin market is expected to gather huge prospects and exponential growth in the upcoming years.
