Internet is a vital part of our lives. It is nearly impossible to follow our day-to-day businesses without the Internet. Although the older Internet connections via long cables connected to stationary computers have been replaced by wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi). In addition, Wi-Fi provides data for multiple systems including laptops, mobiles, tablets, and other devices simultaneously. Moreover, recently introduced virtual router software can turn a computer into a hotspot to provide Wi-Fi for other Wi-Fi-enabled devices.

Compared to the hardware routers, a virtual router software-based system can perform several additional things such as scanning connected devices. Furthermore, one can now make use of virtual routers instead of carrying bulky routers while traveling. What’s more, the virtual router is protected by WPA2 encryption similar to other conventional routers. Since the network has been crowded enough, the need for an improved network has raised. Thus, most of the companies have initiated to provide a solution. Reliance, an Indian company has recently launched Jio Fiber. On the other hand, Megaport has enlarged its edge of megaport cloud router.

Megaport expands its Megaport Cloud Router (MCR):

As the Internet has turned to be a requirement, the problems with latency and costly data charges needed to be solved. Furthermore, Megaport, a global network as a service (Naas) provider, has expanded the service footprint and capabilities of its leading virtual routing platform Megaport Cloud Router (MCR). MCR provides a private connectivity at Layer 3 to provide direct connectivity to business. Megaport has united a fully-hosted virtual routing service with direct connectivity to the leading cloud providers.

According to the company, MCR can replace hardware routers with a better speed of the Internet and cost-effectiveness. It has modified multi-cloud performance, as customers can decrease latency by direct connections between cloud providers. Also, virtual routers can be utilized to control the traffic and provide information related to the connected devices.

Reliance launched Jio Fiber:

Reliance Industries Ltd., an India-based multinational company launched Jio Fiber for various broadband plans. Jio fiber is supposed to reform the digital platform in India. It will provide a fixed Internet connection along with fixed-line phone service, free 4K TV, a set-top box for gaming, and Internet of Things (IoT) services. Moreover, Jio Fiber is expected to offer cheaper Internet data plans.

According to Reliance Jio, Jio fiber is a set-top-box (STB) that can display TV channels that are provided by local cable operators and high definition gaming service. On the other hand, it will provide video calling and VR (virtual reality) & MR (mixed reality) services as well.

A virtual router has been a perfect alternative for increasing latency and stationary hardware routers. Virtual routers are emerging with the need for an improved network. Moreover, the adoption of such advances has contributed to its growth. According to a report published by Allied Market research, the virtual router market is expected to reach $515.0 million, at a CAGR of 24.4% by 2025. Furthermore, the cheaper plans and cost-effectiveness of virtual routers can be highly adopted by small and medium organizations. On the other hand, the rise in demand for private clouds can unlock various opportunities in the market.
