Market players have brought innovative solutions and set new standards for intelligent and eco-friendly energy distribution. With better control over the grid distribution and sustainable solutions in place, manufacturers aim to offer reliable power. The utilization of natural oils with the advanced technology would offer enhanced efficiency and eco-friendliness. They have collaborated with other market players to ensure solutions are well-refined and technologically advanced. These solutions overcome challenges posed by renewable sources.
Along with innovative solutions, the need for more power has encouraged municipal authorities to install transformers that would offer sufficient power for people of the town or district. The demand for power transformers would rise in the coming years as innovations and requirements take place. According to the report published by Allied Market Research, the power transformer market is expected to reach $50.8 billion by 2027. Following are some of the installation activities undergoing across the world.
Installation of new substations containing power transformers has been underway in different regions across the world. Along with offering required power to the nearby areas and other purposes, manufacturers have been designing their transformers that are intelligent and environment-friendly. Siemens Smart Infrastructure and Netze BW GmbH have joined hands to develop and install a new substation with F-gas-free 24 kilovolt (kV) ring main unit (RMU), offering nearly 630 kilovolt-ampere (kVA) distribution. With high rating in place, the developers have utilized biodegradable, natural bio-ester oil instead of mineral oil for insulation. The 24kV RMU combines vacuum switching technology with the Clean Air insulation medium, which contains a mixture of natural and atmospheric gases.
The substation is equipped with an integrated automation system that fulfills the requirements of distributed grids along with offering reliable monitoring and control. This substation would connect medium-voltage distribution grid and the low-voltage local grid. Martin Konermann, the Technical Managing Director at Netze BW, highlighted that the company joined hands with company to overcome challenges posed by renewable energy sources. The collaboration is aimed at developing future-proof solutions for providing sustainable and reliable power supply to cities and communities.
Fulfilling ever-increasing demand for power becomes a challenge for many municipal authorities and they need to commission power transformers if the existing transformers are unable to cope up with demand. Recently, a district authority of Katra in India installed a 10 MVA power transformer as the demand from people in town rose. With successful commissioning of this transformer, people will be benefited as they can acquire enough power that the existing transformer did not provide.
With the similar aim of offering enough power to residents, Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL) from India installed a transformer of 200MVA for complimenting a 400 kV substation at Sector 123. This marked the second transformer that would energize the substation and the total transmission capacity rose to 400MVA. Two more transformers of similar capacity are underway and will be installed soon to enhance transmission capacity. This upgraded substation would provide power supply to Noida and its sectors.
