The launch of new products is one of the major strategies implemented by market players to raise their stakes in the market and attract new customers. They have invested significant amount of resources into R&D activities and new product launches that would offer improved capabilities and features as compared to existing ones. Manufacturers have focused on offering innovative features and developing lightweight and high-performance filters that efficiently manages the airflow. In addition, they have introduced compact designs and improved filtration capabilities that would improve overall engine performance. The demand for innovative air filters is expected to rise in the next few years. According to the report published by Allied Market Research, the intake filter media market is estimated to reach $6.85 billion in 2027. Following are some of the activities taking place across the world.
Market players have been launching carbon fiber intake filters for offering superior engine performance for different types of vehicles. Various innovative features have been introduced in a new range of filters as the demand is changing as per designs. UFI Filters launched its UFI MULTITUBE, a compact and high efficiency air filter. Its size is smaller than conventional air filters and saves up to 50% of the space. It is tubular in structure and can be fitted easily in different geometries and diameters, lengths, and shapes. These tubes are fitted in an airbox made by the company. This box is made up of polyamide, which is a light material that provides resistance to deformation. The entire design contributes to lowered fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The company designed this filter by keeping high performance levels in mind. Its filtering performance is over 99.5%. The concept of deep filtration has been utilized and the air flow can travel from outside to inside of the filter through one or more of its pipes. Its non-woven and rigid filter media is manufactured by synthetic hydrophobic fibers. The water-resistant material has been designed in a specific diameter and distributed properly over the tubes. This air filter is developed to offer optimum performance throughout the product lifecycle.
Riding on the wave of launching new filters, Corsa Performance, an Ohio-based manufacturer of aftermarket performance parts, launched innovative carbon fiber air intake filters for the C7 Corvette Z06. This filter is capable of improving power and torque output of the supercharged 6.2L LT4 V8 engine. The lightweight filter can produce nearly 44 HP and 70 pound-feet of torque in addition to the factory produced parameters for the C7. With installation of this air filter, the sports car can gain nearly 694 HP and 720 pound-feet of torque.
The company outlined that this intake filter media is capable of directing airflow from filter to throttle in an efficient manner. This would streamline airflow along with offering optimum power output. The filter is designed in an aesthetic way to offer motorsports-inspired appearance when the hood is popped up. In addition, it is lighter in weight by 1.6 pounds as compared to factory air intake filter. Though this filter is designed specifically for the C7, there is no doubt about the innovation in the design and capabilities that others can take inspiration from.
