Are you thinking of moving from fast food to fast casual? You have come to the right page then! This post is going to give the readers a comprehensive idea about the concept of fast casual restaurant. Well, fast food can be defined as a concept with relatively lower price points per meal. There would probably be no table service offered and individuals would have to pay for the food in advance. The food can be either pre-made or made on order. Fast casual concepts, on the other hand, are a bit more costly as the food contains better quality ingredients. There may have some table service and they often tend to offer customization to the customers. Clients can also expect more relaxed stay over fast casual restaurant counters.
In a nutshell, fast casual restaurants offer the comfort and expediency of fast food, but with a more engaging and appealing atmosphere where people can sit and relax over time. Also, the menu comprises higher quality ingredients than that of the ones found at most fast food corners.
No matter how much hyped the concept of small plates, milk alternatives, or plant-based meats be like, there has probably not been a bigger food trend than fast casual in the last decade. And, nothing had a superior or bigger impact on American dining than these cozy, advanced, easy, and convenient counter-service restaurants. They have not only altered the way people ate till date, but also how ingredients were sourced at chain corners & counters.
For example, chain restaurants like Newk’s, Panera Bread, or Red Brick Pizza –they all fall into the category of fast causal concepts. Individuals happen to order from a menu panel, just like at KFC or Pizza Hut, then take a seat to relish their food in an easy and laidback fashion. Fast casual restaurants do provide the convenience of fast food without the typical concept of fine dining around. Customers can also build their own meal and get the best value for their money.
In the last few years, fast-casuals have snapped the difference between multinational fast-food corners and chef-driven outlets indeed. Some fast casual restaurants even touted on seasonal items, offering mangoes and pineapples in summer and orange or cranberry squash in winter.
According to Allied Market Research, the global fast casual restaurant market is expected to register a considerable CAGR from 2017 to 2023. Emergence of the concept of cloud kitchens has curtailed down the capital expenditure for many business ventures. Little capital costs and elevated profit margins have led to substantial investment on fast casual restaurants. Moreover, rise in the drift to embrace automation in kitchen and introduction of several deliver-to-door services have created a number of lucrative opportunities for the key players in the industry. It’s expected that the growth and development of deliver-to-door solutions along with cloud kitchens would drive the profit margins of fast casual restaurants in more than one way.
