Over the years, the family entertainment centers (FECs) industry has grown significantly. Factors such as demographics, favorable youth, and the rapid expansion of family entertainment centers and indoor entertainment centers drive the market growth. According to Allied Market Research, the family/indoor entertainment centers market across the globe is anticipated to grow at a significant CAGR from 2021 to 2030.
Advancements in family entertainment center software and technology have resulted in new visitor attractions that have improved a variety of areas of FECs. Market players are embracing technology to match the customers’ growing expectations of arcade debit card systems, contactless and cashless payment technology, wireless readers, and others at the venue.
Market players are adopting strategic partnerships and acquisitions to improve their offerings and create superior entertainment experiences for families. Five Star Parks & Attractions, backed by Denver-based private equity firm Fruition Partners, has announced the purchase of two independent companies that operates family entertainment centers (FECs). With this acquisition, the company aims to expand its offerings throughout the Southern and Midwest United States. The deals bring together a portfolio of five sites from Dubby's Attractions, a well-known operator in Pigeon Forge and Branson, as well as all five Celebration Station locations, which are known for providing food and entertainment in a family-friendly environment.
Branson Zipline and Xtreme Racing Center Branson in Branson, Speed Zone Fun Park, and LazerPort Fun Center, and Xtreme Racing Center Pigeon Forge in Pigeon Forge were acquired by Five Star recently. John Dunlap, CEO of Five Star Parks & Attractions, highlighted that the Five Star Parks & Attractions would use its operational expertise to work alongside the wonderful legacies of the family-run attractions it has bought.
Leading players are investing in the development of high-tech activities and continue their expansion to offer a quality brand of family-focused entertainment services. Stars and Strikes, based in Georgia, recently confirmed plans to set up a new family entertainment center in South Carolina's Myrtle Beach. The project will be the company's sixteenth facility and the third in the state, which will open in the fourth quarter of 2022. The facility will include 24 bowling lanes, eight of which will be VIP lanes within the exclusive S&S Lounge. All the bowling lanes will have augmented reality bowling, a realistic, high-tech bowling activity that brings the lanes to life.
This location of Stars and Strikes will offer fresh and healthy food & beverages, including a range of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, specialty pizzas, and other house-made products. With this new center, the company aims to provide a high-quality brand of family-friendly entertainment to the Myrtle Beach area for the enjoyment of people of all ages.
The outbreak of Covid-19 negatively affected the global family/indoor entertainment centers market. During the initial phase of the pandemic, most of the entertainment centers were shut. People used to avoid traveling to avoid covid infection, and most family entertainment centers were following complete restrictions on dining at their facilities. However, as the world is getting back to normalcy, government authorities in various nations have allowed these centers to operate at full capacity. Due to this, the market for family/indoor entertainment centers is expected to rebound in the post-pandemic era
