This significant increase of the market value is due to rise in the cases of HPV and HIV testing in African and Asia-Pacific region.
The factors driving the growth of this market are increasing fatal STDs along with high cost, and constant employment of Client-Initiated Counselling and Testing (CICT) & Provider-Initiated Counselling and Testing (PICT). Clinical manifestation of STD such as Chlamydia includes Urethritis, Orchitis, Epididymitis, and Infertility in men to Endometritis, Cervicitis, PID, infertility, Perihepatitis and Salpingitis in women.

However, many POC devices are not approved by regulatory bodies such as USFDA due to specificity criteria and some deviations in the devices.
In the year 2013, STD testing devices accounted for $7.7 billion with laboratory testing retaining the most market share in terms of value. Europe is expected to witness a significant growth rate with its STD testing market poised to attain a mark of 26.8 billion by 2020 with a CAGR of 13.5%.
