Explosion-proof heaters are heating systems specially designed to prevent the ignition of volatile gases or other materials in the surroundings. Hence, these heaters refrain from attaining temperatures at which volatile materials or gases burst into flames, thus ensuring that the surroundings around the heater remain safe. The development of advanced explosion proof heaters is one such technology that has become quite popular in these industries. Many companies in the explosion proof heaters industry are launching innovative products to cater to these demands and increase their footprint globally.
For instance, Modine Manufacturing, a thermal management company, in February 2024, announced the launch of the MEW, an explosion-proof heating system that is specifically designed for corrosive and volatile environments. The company released a statement after the launch saying that the heating system is an ideal solution for industries like oil & gas exploration, petrochemical manufacturing, food and beverage production, agriculture, food processing, etc.
Apart from the launch of such innovative products, the advantages offered by these heating systems have also played a key role in increasing their popularity. They are made from resilient materials like galvanized steel which can sustain the hot and corrosive conditions in the manufacturing industries. As said earlier, the operating temperature of these heaters is well below the range in which volatile materials burst into flames; however, to avoid emergencies and withstand explosions, these heaters have additional in-built safety features in the form of pressure valves. These pressure valves release pressure in case the heater reaches a high temperature, thus helping the system cool down.
Also, explosion proof heaters have a much longer lifespan as compared to conventional heating systems owing to the design and use of advanced materials. Furthermore, the cost of maintenance of these heaters is quite low as they have a wide range of customizable options like thermostat control which prevents the system from overheating.
Understanding the growth of the industry in China, the UK, and India
In the past few years, the explosion proof heater industry has witnessed huge growth across the globe including major regions of Asia-Pacific and Europe. As far as Asia-Pacific is concerned, the development of the industry is owing to the rapid pace of industrialization experienced in developing countries such as India and China. Due to this, the demand for explosion-proof heating systems has grown, which has improved the revenue share of the industry in these countries. The industry in India is expected to have the highest CAGR of 9.7% in the 2023-2032 period.
Similarly, the industry in Europe, too, has flourished due to the increasing governmental regulations in various countries like the UK which have mandated the installation of advanced systems in industries to ensure the safety of workers. Furthermore, the advancements in explosion-proof technologies are anticipated to bring in new opportunities for growth in the sector. In December 2021, Exheat, a UK-based heating equipment supplier, announced the expansion of its product portfolio by launching the MTH Flameproof Mini Tank Immersion Heaters. These heaters are designed as a compact cooling solution for gases and liquids in hazardous environments and have applications in crank casings, motor enclosures, hot water storage tanks, etc.
To summarize, the growth of the explosion proof heaters industry is on account of the various advantages offered by these systems in improving the productivity of various end-use sectors. Furthermore, the launch of several innovative products by leading companies has also expanded the scope of the landscape in the past few years.
