Eco-fibers or ecofriendly fibers are a category of fibers produced without pesticides and chemical treatments during manufacturing. They are manufactured to minimize their environmental impact during production and use. Eco-fibers find widespread use in the textile and apparel industry, where they are employed in the production of accessories, clothing, and home textiles.
A report published by Allied Market Research on the eco-fibers market indicates that the industry would cite a notable CAGR of 7.5% during the forecast period. The industry is expanding rapidly due to the increased utilization of eco-fibers in household applications and surging demand for eco-fibers in the textile industry.
Applications of different eco fibers:
Bamboo fibers:
These fibers are employed in the production of a wide range of products, including mattresses, tablecloths, bulletproof vests, baby diapers, pillows, bed sheets, sanitary napkins, face masks, sleepwear, towels, beach cover-ups, swimwear, T-shirts, underwear, ad socks. Their UV-resistant properties also make them suitable for crafting apparel for pregnant women and children.
Banana fibers:
In the past few years, banana fibers had limited applications and were primarily utilized for making certain composite materials, carpets, and ropes. However, as environmental awareness and the significance of eco-friendly materials have increased, banana fiber's positive attributes have gained recognition. Consequently, its utilization has expanded into various industries, including clothing and home furnishings.
Ramie fibers:
Ramie fiber finds diverse applications in various industries, including home furnishings, the filtering industry, fishing nets, industrial sewing threads, carpets, packing accessories, the paper manufacturing industry, men's and women's apparel, clothing, yams, and even in the production of fire hose pipes and parachute cloth.
Jute fibers:
Jute fibers are used in the manufacturing of a wide range of products, including carpets, apparel, composites, upholstery furnishings, and decorative color boards. Additionally, non-woven jute fabrics have applications in industries such as agricultural technology (aggrotech), medical technology (Meditech), protective technology (Protech), geotextiles, and many more.
The Lenzing Group's Conclave concentrates on highlighting the significance of eco fibers
The Lenzing Group, a leading supplier of wood-based specialty fibers, organized 'The Lenzing Conclave' in Coimbatore. This event brought together more than 60 experts to deliberate on the applications of viscose fibers by LENZING™ ECOVERO™ and TENCEL™️ branded fibers. The primary objective of the event was to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and explore the potential uses of these fibers in weaving.
The event offered an opportunity for the Lenzing team and domestic industry stakeholders to establish collaborative relationships and incorporate innovative fibers like LENZING ECOVERO™ and TENCEL™ into their weaving processes, thereby driving new advancements in the textile industry.
The Lenzing Group actively collaborates with weavers, extending technical expertise, bulk production support, and marketing resources to effectively promote their innovative products. The introduction of LENZING™ ECOVERO™ and TENCEL™ fibers into weaving hubs has generated significant interest, held the promise of enhancing product quality and generated substantial value.
The inclusive conclave drew a wide range of participants who were enthusiastic about expanding their knowledge of Lenzing fibers. Lenzing, in collaboration with the weaving community, is dedicated to cultivating high-quality products for both domestic and international markets. This joint effort aims to expand the region's standing in the global textile industry while advancing sustainability objectives.
