Fragrance has the power to enhance lives and to trigger customer’s positive emotions towards the product. This is why, a lot of commonly used household chemicals and disinfection products often add fragrances to cover unpleasant smells of the product or to add a scent to the product.

Isophytol is a chemical substance that is popular for its usage as a fragrance ingredient in many fragrance compounds including perfumes, creams, lotions, shampoos, detergents and so on. It is a clear oily liquid and terpenoid alcohol that is also used as an intermediate in the synthesis of vitamin E and K1.

Recently, Nenter has developed a new synthesis technique to produce isophytol. The new production method is less expensive, safer and has a practical reaction mechanism & technical route.

According to a report published by Allied Market Research, the isophytol market size is projected to reach $629.5 million with a considerable CAGR from 2021 to 2028. Currently, Asia-Pacific region is holding the highest market share. The region has a hot and humid climate, due to which, there is a high requirement of perfumes and deodorants to keep human bodies fresh and pleasantly fragrant.

However, the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic led to global lockdown and temporary closure to manufacturing facilities of isophytol industries. In addition, the pandemic has disrupted the supply chain, leading to difficulty in supplying raw materials. All these factors has hampered the global isophytol market to some extent.

Nevertheless, the global situation is getting better and the market is anticipated to revive soon. The key market players are incorporating several strategies and increasing production volume in order to stay competitive in the market.

Moreover, the demand of fragrances to produce personal care products is a never ending trend, which in turn, is driving the growth of isophytol market in more than one way. The International Fragrance Association (IFRA), the global representative body of the fragrance industry that keeps a track of any health problems arising from fragrance use, has already added isophytol in its transparency list.

At the same time, vitamin E which is made up from isophytol has an array of end uses like cosmetics, functional foods, beverages, animal feed, and dietary supplements. Demand for vitamin E in skin care products is increasing rapidly, owing to its antioxidating properties and its ability to repair damaged cells. This way, rise in production of vitamin E in emerging economies is boosting the demand of isophytol to a great extent.

Furthermore, now-a-days, e-commerce giants such as Amazon, Flipkart, and others have given way to easy buying of personal care products. This has sequentially played a major role in increasing sales and consumer demand of cosmetic products around the world. Thus, rise in e-commerce activities is somehow increasing the demand for isophytol and other fragrance ingredients. With this drift on board, the isophytol market is expected to gather huge prospects and exponential growth is the near future.
