In recent years, the market for embedded systems has expanded significantly. As time progresses, electronic systems are increasingly incorporating computer technology. Embedded systems are also extensively being used in various industries, including automotive, consumer electronics, industrial automation, and telecommunications. Additionally, they also play avital role in healthcare, defense, and military domains.
Embedded systems are managed by (FPGA) field-programmable gate arrays, GPU technology, (ASIC) application-specific integrated circuits, gate arrays, (DSP) digital signal processors, or microcontrollers. Furthermore, these processing systems are equipped with components that handle both electrical and mechanical interfaces, allowing for precise control over the system’s physical functions and providing real-time limitations.
According to a recent report by Allied Market Research, the embedded systems market is anticipated to grow at a noteworthy CAGR from 2022 to 2031. Due to the rising demand for gadgets like smart electricity meters, the global embedded systems market has experienced rapid growth. Additionally, the market is also expected to expand even more in the coming years.
Enhanced research and development initiatives-
Many companies are forming strategic alliances and working together to launch a variety of new products to increase their market share and revenue. Intel Corporation, Texas Instruments Inc., Renesas Electronics Corp., Qualcomm Inc., Analog Devices Inc., Infineon Technologies, and Cypress Semiconductors are among those top firms.
For example, the 32-bit MCU range, which already involves the Renesas Synergy Platform and RX series, was expanded by Renesas with the launch of its RA series (new 32-bit) Arm Cortex M microcontrollers in November 2019. The RA MUC finds application in a variety of fields such as healthcare, metering, and home automation and has been designed to enhance IoT device connectivity, performance, security, and the human-machine interface (HMI).
STMicroelectronics released the wireless STM32WB microcontrollers in November 2019 to support Bluetooth 5.0 technology. These MCU are reasonably priced and provide high security.
US-based Oracle and Intel collaborated in September 2019 to develop a new shared persistent memory platform specifically designed for an Oracle database. The partnership aimed to offer customers high-frequency stock trading, high-performance IoT data processing, and latency-sensitive services, applications that call for real-time human interaction.
In December 2019, NXP Semiconductors paid nearly $1.8 billion to acquire Marvell's Bluetooth connectivity and Wi-Fi businesses. The purchase was made entirely in cash to provide clients in different sectors with complete solutions, better connectivity options, and adaptable processing capabilities.
COVID-19 Impact on the Global Embedded Systems Market-
As stated above, embedded systems find applications in several industries including defense, aerospace, automotive, telecommunications, and healthcare. The healthcare sector witnessed a surge in demand for embedded systems, while other industries have been slower to adopt them. Despite these challenges, manufacturing companies were increasingly using embedded systems to improve the performance, security, and connectivity of IoT devices and human-machine interfaces (HMI). As a result, the global embedded systems market received a boost.
